Summit Spa & Float opened their doors in Spanish Fork on January 6, 2018. In those two short years it has filled the void missing in South Utah County for a unique Day Spa dedicated to both medical massage, aesthetics and spa treatments. In July of 2019 Summit Spa & Float expanded their service locations and opened an additional spa in Park City, Utah.
Last year The Daily Herald readers voted Summit Spa & Float “The Best of Utah Valley 2019” in the Day Spa category. This year Summit Spa & Float not only earned the votes of readers again for that same award but also picked up an additional award as “The Best of Utah Valley 2020” in the Massage Spa category.
This year the Spanish Fork based spa also gained the approval of Utah Valley Magazine readers for another award for “2020 Best DAY SPA Utah Valley Magazine”.
What makes Summit Spa & Float unique?
Float Pods
Float tanks or pods also widely known as Sensory Deprivation Tanks immediately set Summit Spa & Float apart from traditional day spas. Science backed studies continue to produce data that reinforces the positive effects pods produce post float for people suffering with PTSD, depression, agoraphobia, postpartum depression, insomnia and muscle soreness. Cupping
Summit therapists are the Utah’s leading providers in Cupping Therapy. This therapeutic treatment has been around for thousands of years. The practice unknown to many was thrown into the spotlight during the Rio Olympic Games by swimmer Michael Phelps.
The practice of cupping uses negative pressure (suction) to lift blood from deep tissue to the surface layers of the skin. The skin pulls into the cup and reddens as blood vessels expand and fluid fills the suctioned area. Multiple cups are placed strategically on the body and left for several minutes at a time.
Warm Bamboo
Commonly found only in destination spa or cruise ships this is another treatment offered by Summit that allows you to experience that getaway feeling when you visit their locations. The warmth of the bamboo encourages muscle relaxation and the tools can be used similarly to IASTM or Gua Sha to really get in deep to relieve fascial adhesions. Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Lymphatic Drainage is often confused with massage but it is completely different. Clients come to see our therapists the day of or day after surgeries to improve and promote healing and lymph flow. Lymph typically flows at a rate of 10-12 bpm, following an hour long (MLD) Manual Lymphatic Drainage session the lymph will flow at 100-120 bpm for about 48 hour post treatment. Reduced swelling with the client who’s foot is shown was after just one appointment.
Quality and professionalism
Unlike your run of the mill franchised massage or float spas, Summit Spa & Float is owned and operated by two business minded Massage Therapists. Both women have had the opportunity and pleasure to work in some of the top 5 high end destination resorts and spas in the world. Forty one years of combined experience show in the quality of therapists and technicians you will find in their locations as each one is hired personally by one of the owners.
Service providers are also valued at Summit Spa & Float. Co-Owner Katrina Long says, “Our professions are not always treated like other jobs are. As massage therapists and aestheticians most spas pay their staff as 1099 contractors and then treat them like employees without the benefits. We wanted that to end with us! Here we offer Health Insurance & Life Insurance to our staff and we pay our employees as employees. We also plan on implementing a retirement plan in the near future.”
Creating an environment conducive to longevity in employees spa careers is paramount. Employees are valued for what they can offer to clients and to the business. The goal of Summit Spa & Float is to treat their employees well, give them options and create brand loyalty along with offering continuing education and benefits rarely offered in the spa industry.
